What you'll need...

For the filling
  • 900g Bramley apples, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 2 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (use 2 tsp if you want more)
For the crumble
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 200g plain flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 40g demerara sugar

Method

  1. Put the peeled, cored and chopped apple slices into an oven proof dish and pour over 2 tbsp of water. Sprinkle the cinnamon and 2 tbsp of the caster sugar on top and toss well to achieve an even coverage.

  2. Air fry the apple mixture at 180C for 10 minutes, stir well, and then cook for another 10 minutes.

  3. While the apple is cooking, rub the unsalted butter into the plain flour in a mixing bowl until you achieve breadcrumbs. Stir in the ground cinnamon and demerara sugar. Tip the crumble onto the cooked apples and level, making sure the apples are covered evenly. Air fry for another 10 minutes until golden brown.

  4. Serve warm with single cream, custard or ice cream.
