What you'll need...

  • 150g self-raising flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 25g caster sugar
  • 40g butter (use plant-based to make vegan)
  • 60ml milk (use soy, almond or oat to make vegan)

Method

  1. Mix the flour and baking powder together. Cut the butter into cubes and add to the flour mix.

  2. Rub the butter and flour mix with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add the sugar and gently combine.

  3. Add the milk to the flour, butter and sugar mix and gently bring the mixture together. Once a soft dough begins to form, use your hands to create a ball.

  4. Dust the work surface with flour and place the dough on top. Pat into a flat disk about 2cm deep and use a scone cutter to cut out four scones. Gently pat the dough back together and repeat, cutting out as many scones as possible.

  1. Line the base of your air fryer with parchment paper and place the scones on top. Use a pastry brush to brush the tops of the scones with some milk.

  2. Set the air fryer to 185C and bake for 10 minutes, or until fully cooked and golden brown on top.

  3. Remove and leave to cool on a cooling rack. Best served warm with butter and a dollop of jam and cream!
