Our air fryer stuffing recipe is the perfect Sunday lunch or Christmas dinner side dish. Suitable for vegetarians, this stuffing recipe is ready in less than an hour and extra crispy because of the stale bread.
What you'll need...
- 250g butter
- 500g stale sourdough bread, cut into small chunks
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 celery sticks, chopped
- 3 sage leaves, finely chopped
- 3 rosemary sprigs, picked and leaves finely chopped
- 400ml vegetable stock
- 2 eggs
Method
Take a heatproof oven dish and coat with butter.
Melt ¾ of the butter in a large frying pan over a medium heat and cook the celery and onions. Stir in the herbs and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Add the stale bread and mix to combine. Pour in the vegetable stock and combine again, ensuring even coverage. Tip the stuffing mixture into the prepared oven dish and leave to cool for 10 minutes.
Preheat the air fryer to 200C. Whisk the eggs and pour over the stuffing mixture. Dot the remaining butter on top and cover with foil. Air fry for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and air fry for another 5 minutes or until the stuffing turns golden and is cooked through.
Serve immediately and alongside all the trimmings and plenty of gravy.
