What you'll need...

  • 4 pork sausages
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 75ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 25g corn flour
  • 30g plain flour
  • 100g green beans
  • 100g frozen peas
  • 2 tsp plain flour
  • 10g butter
  • 200ml chicken stock

Method

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 200C.

  2. Put a silicone liner into the air fryer, add the sausages and drizzle with vegetable oil. Cook for 5 mins or until the sausages start to colour.

  3. Make the batter by whisking together the milk, eggs, flour and cornflour until it’s smooth. Season with salt and pepper and allow the batter to rest.

  4. Open the air fryer, turn the sausages and quickly pour over the batter. Close the air fryer and cook for 15 mins, until the batter starts to look a dark golden brown and is crisp. Avoid opening the air fryer before this as it can cause the batter to sink.

  1. While the toad in the hole is air frying, it’s time to make the gravy and ready the vegetables. Add the chicken stock to a small saucepan and whisk in the flour. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and stir occasionally. Add butter and season with a twist of black pepper. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until it’s reached your desired thickness. Reduce the heat to keep warm until it’s needed.

  2. Put your chosen green veg into a bowl and steam in the microwave until cooked through.

  3. Plate everything together. Use a spatula to carefully remove the toad in the hole out of the air fryer. Divide into portions and plate up. Add the veggies and pour over gravy. Serve and enjoy!
