Our chocolate ice cream recipe not only tastes divine, it’s fudgy and decadent too. The perfect dessert for warmer days.
Made from dark and milk chocolate, cream and sweetened condensed milk, our recipe is just as good as the flavour found at any ice cream shop. By using an ice cream maker, you can simplify the process and enjoy a creamy sweet treat.
What you'll need...
- 200g dark chocolate, chopping into small pieces
- 350g can sweetened condensed milk
- 500ml double cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp organic cocoa powder, sifted
- 70g milk chocolate chips
Method
Take the ice cream maker canister and place in the freezer the night before, so it’s ready to be used.
Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water. Make sure the bowl doesn’t touch the water and stir until smooth and glossy. Leave to cool slightly.
Pour the cream, condensed milk and vanilla extract into a second bowl and beat for 2-3 minutes using an electric whisk until slightly thickened and the mixture leaves a trail when lifted. Avoid overwhipping as this can cause the mixture to become too stiff.
Gently fold the melted chocolate and cocoa powder into the cream and milk mixture until combined. Fold in 50g of the chocolate chips.
Pour the mixture into the ice cream maker and leave to churn for 20-30 minutes. Scrape the churned mixture into a freezer-proof container and scatter the top with the remaining chocolate chips. Cover with clingfilm, a lid and leave to freeze for at least 6 hours.
