Easy

Our slow cooker rice pudding recipe is sure to impress anyone who loves this creamy and decadent British dessert.

Easy to make, simple to serve – top with your favourite spices, fresh fruit or jam for additional flavour. Although traditionally baked in the oven, this rice pudding recipe can be popped into the slow cooker for ease and to be enjoyed later – perfect for cosy evenings. To make vegan, swap out the milk, heavy cream and butter for plant-based alternatives.

What you'll need...

  • 150g pudding rice
  • 300ml double cream, heavy
  • 750ml milk
  • 35g butter, melted
  • 65g sugar, golden
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • Strawberry jam, optional

Method

  1. Grease the inside of the slow cooker with a small amount of softened butter.

  2. Pour in all the ingredients into the slow cooker and stir until combined.

  3. Turn on the slow cooker and cook for approximately 3 hours on low.

  4. The rice will appear soft and fluffy, not mushy. The rice pudding should retain its shape. Once cooked, place into bowls, top with your desired toppings (we love adding a dollop of strawberry jam) and serve immediately.
