What you'll need...

  • 1 serrano pepper, sliced
  • 45ml fresh lime juice, approx. 2 limes
  • 60ml tequila blanco
  • 15ml Cointreau
  • A dash of bitters (we recommend Angostura)
  • Tajin seasoning, to serve
  • Lime wedges, to serve
  • Coriander, optional

Method

  1. Add the serrano pepper slices to a cocktail shaker and muddle with the lime juice. If you can, reserve a couple of the pepper slices for serving.

  2. Add tequila, triple sec, bitters and coriander (if using) and fill the cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until you can feel the shaker becoming cold.

  3. Pour the Tajin seasoning on a small plate. Rub the rim of your chosen glasses with a lime wedge, then dip the glass’s rim into the seasoning to coat. Fill the glass with ice and pour in the margarita, garnishing with a lime wedge and pepper slice. Serve immediately.
